Elizabeth and Adam exchanged their vows a second time at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Center last summer! Their first wedding took place in their hometown in Minnesota, but because of COVID, their family couldn’t make it. This time around, they were so glad to invite a small group of their closest loved ones to join them!

Blushing Bouquets and a Bold Wedding Party

When the couple began working with Lavender Blue, Elizabeth sent us a few photos of their first wedding. Since she loved the artsy, playful vibe of her florals, she wanted something similar from us!  She described a color palette composed of dusty pastels in tones of peach, lavender, and pink. To create some tonal contrast and complement the garden feel at the botanical center, we suggested adding succulents to her bouquet. She loved the idea, and the result was gorgeous!

The floral theme didn’t stop there, however. In fact, Elizabeth’s wedding party was decked out in florals from head to toe! Her bridesmaids wore mismatched pastel pink dresses with pink and purple floral motifs, while her brother rocked a powder blue suit covered in purple roses. Their bouquets filled with pastel roses and blue thistle complemented their outfits perfectly.

Ceremony at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Center

Just prior to their ceremony, Elizabeth and Adam honored Elizabeth’s Chinese heritage by performing a traditional tea ceremony. Together they served tea to Adam’s parents, then headed to the botanical garden to exchange their vows. The lush green of the garden leaves made a stunning backdrop! In addition, red lanterns hung on either side of the couple as another nod to Elizabeth’s culture.

Meanwhile, her sister put together the most lovely reception tables incorporating garden-inspired and traditional Chinese decor. She covered each table with a white tablecloth and topped it with delicate bamboo fans and greenery. Then, we added a few arrangements of roses in Elizabeth’s favorite pastels. The look was clean and minimal, yet striking!

We loved working with Elizabeth and Adam to provide florals for their garden-themed affair at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Center. Beautiful, intentionally designed floral arrangements are our passion, and it would be an honor to bring our expertise to your wedding planning journey! Connect with us today!
