Summer boho style wedding at an Iowa winery with bridesmaids in dark sienna dresses and holding woven natural fans with dried florals in colors of orange, cream and light blush

Morgan and Blake’s wedding at Prairie Moon Winery was a long-anticipated boho bash! The two met during their college days at Iowa State University, at the bar where they both worked. It was only fitting that they return to the place they fell in love for their wedding since the campus and the Prairie Moon winery are just six minutes apart!

At the start of their wedding planning journey, Morgan and Blake hired a planner at the recommendation of a friend. But, after feeling unheard during the planning process, they decided to move on and ended up working with Lavender Blue! We assured them that we could provide rental items and linens on par with those offered by their planner. Due to our shared background in nursing, Morgan and I immediately hit it off! What’s more, we discovered that we planned her coworker’s wedding a year prior, who raved about her experience with Lavender Blue!

Family-Focused Wedding at Prairie Moon Winery

From the beginning, Morgan and Blake’s special day was a family affair. The planning process went so smoothly thanks to Blake’s mother, who helped out wherever she could. By the time the wedding rolled around, she felt like an old friend! In addition, Morgan’s mom created the most gorgeous retro-style paper goods for the couple’s reception, featuring graphic fonts and warm boho colors.

The couple also has a son together, who they made sure to include in the day. In the end, it felt like a celebration of their family, and not just them as a couple. Fittingly, the two recently announced that they are expecting!

Boho 60s-Inspired Details for a Late Summer Wedding

Morgan and Blake knew that they wanted a boho, retro-inspired wedding and made it happen with a combination of DIY and rented decor! For their ceremony, Blake hand-built a triangle arch just as Morgan had envisioned, which we adorned with a combination of fresh and dried floral products from a local Iowa farmer! In addition, he surprised her at the last moment with the dreamiest 60s rattan etagere to use at their reception. We styled it with a combination of boho trinkets and family photos for a sweet, sentimental addition.

The couple's reception also featured rented disco balls, as well as some of Lavender Blue’s new rattan hanging lamps. We were so excited to hang them from the ceiling of the venue—with the help of the whole family, of course! For dinner, their guests enjoyed oven-fired pizza prepared right on the venue property, from one of the couple’s favorite local joints, Ferinheit Pizza. All in all, the celebration was relaxed and full of laughter. And it brought Morgan’s aesthetic vision to life!

We were so honored to be entrusted with styling Morgan and Blake’s wedding at Prairie Moon Winery. From florals to rentals to event design, we do it all! If you’re an Iowa to-be-wed interested in any (or all!) of our services, we’d love to hear from you. Let’s work together to create the wedding of your wildest dreams!
